Luc originally graduated college as an Interior architect &
scenographer. Next to a "serious" career of designing
and arranging office floors he founded wAw balloons, balloondecorators
and partyshop in 1995.
Although the businesses were originally intended to be for his
wife, Luc discovered immediately the fun side and endless possibilities
of making creations with balloons. Very soon, after competing at
the European Balloon Symposium in Paris (March 96) Luc was asked
to teach his balloon skills in Belgium.
At the European Balloon Symposium in Prague (Oct 97) Luc was the
runner up in the sculpture and the centerpiece competition, and
was named Best European Newcomer 1997. At the International
Party Show in Birmingham (April 98) Luc was the runner up in the
logo competition, and at the European Balloon Symposium in Villamoura
(Portugal) (98) Luc was winner in the centerpiece competition and
runner up in the sculpture competition .
As Luc was asked to teach at the European Balloon Symposium in
Mainz (Germany) his wife Ines took over the competition and became
herself the Best European Newcomer 1999 Since then Luc
has been asked many times to teach in throughout Europe.
Luc is known for his renewing compositions and techniques thus
creating commercial designs for every type of client. In the year
2001 he built a 3000 sq. foot balloon shop, one of the biggest in
Europe. At the 2001 Qualatex event in London, Luc became the winner
of the first "Overseas Qualatex approved instructor of the
year award.
