Anthony Van der Weegen
only started his business in Australia’s Capital City, Canberra
in 2001. But in those few short years since, he not only has built
his own thriving balloon decorating business, Balloon Brilliance,
but has become well known in both his home town and throughout the
balloon industry for his precision work and attention to detail.
“I am a perfectionist and I take great care to ensure that
my work always looks professional. I could not achieve the results
that I produce without quality materials and efficient, reliable
equipment”.
Anthony has created a successful home-based business that caters
mainly to corporate clients and special event decor. “I am
an absolute lover of classic balloon decor and I always keep my
designs simple and clean”. Anthony has an exceptional eye
for detail and credits this to his previous career as a Fingerprint
Identification Expert with the Australian Federal Police. “I
can see really quickly if there is a balloon out of place or doesn’t
belong”.
Anthony became a CBA in September 2003 and in that same year he
entered his first industry competitions at the Australasian Balloon
Convention in Hobart, Australia. Anthony won a swag of awards including
the prestigious Large Balloon Sculpture and the best Photographic
Portfolio.
Anthony has since become a lecturer in this industry and taught
at the last Australian Balloon Convention in Sydney. He has also
had photos of his original designs published in ‘Balloon Images’
magazine.
The first piece of equipment that Anthony bought before he even
sold his first balloon was the Conwin Dual Split Second Sizer. “I
have used it from day one and could not imagine working without
it”. However, Anthony’s favourite piece of equipment
is his Conwin Air Force 4 inflator. “We do a lot of on-site
air-filled work with balloon swags, columns, arches and balloon
drops. The Air Force 4 is so easy to transport and allows us to
inflate a lot of balloons really fast and simply. I wouldn’t
leave home without it!’ |
