Cupid's Heart
by Sue Marston-Weston, CBA

This is a truly beautiful design that has a dual purpose. Not only does it create a stunning focal point at the wedding celebrations it also has a hidden special effect! Ideally you should create 2 of these hearts that can stand on either side of the dance floor and at the agreed moment the Confetti Cannons are fired ‘showering’ the Bride & Groom with confetti!

Secure conduit pole to the base plate and then secure heart frame to the pole approx 6” below the top of the pole.

Inflate 5” latex to 4” and create 4-balloon clusters. In this design I have created a semi formal spiral. I have consistently used 2 x 5” Ivory in every cluster and have randomly changed the other balloon colour’s, this will create a visually interesting spiral effect that is far less formal than the usual spiral garland. Always remember to start at the centre of the frame and mirror image each side.

Decorate Heart frame with 4” Fuchsia Hearts, and Ivy. I have added small bows to the base of each heart balloon.

Using a soft fabric, pull this through the base of the heart design and allow to gently fall to the ground, this will disguise the pole and add an elegant feel to the whole design. Using more 4” hearts and some under inflated 5” latex balloons, ribbon and ivy create a soft accent that moves from the heart to the base of the design.

Now add the confetti cannon loaded as per the instructions to the top of the conduit pole and hide the lead wire within the design.

To create the cupids arrow, cut the shape of the arrow tail from foam board and paint it black and secure this to the cannon covering the small cylinder and at the end of the barrel secure a 9” Microfoil Fuchsia Heart, I have positioned the heart below the opening of the cannon to ensure that it does not prevent the confetti from firing to it maximum capacity. To hide the mechanics of the cannon, make a beautiful bow and position at the centre of the heart.
