For the Hat you can either place on a bought top hat or make one like this design has from 260Q Weaving.
To weave your hat start by inflating all 5 x 260Q Blacks just over ½ way and tie together so you are forming a cluster of 5 x 260Q’s. The with one of them make 2 x 1” pinch twists in the centre and place one above and one below all 5 spokes to hold them in place. Now start the process by taking one spoke and move down 3” then make a twist now turn this spoke to the right and move along 3”, hold this whilst you get the second spoke (next door to the first) and move down that 3” then twist – now add the first spoke at the second twist (where your holding) and twist this into the second spoke twist (seem pic for ref) now you simply repeat this moving along for the 3rd, 4th and 5th spoke until you come back to the start, which you twist the balloon back into, giving you a full circle which should sit flat. Now with each spoke place a 1” Bubble coming from it which will change the direction of the spokes ready for you to work down the sides of the hat, now continue the process of working layers around the spokes in the same way as you did the first, the only difference is that when making the bubbles downwards instead of leaving a 3” bubble you only want to leave a 1” bubble, but with the spoke going around you need to keep that at around 3” (remember to see pic for ref) for each layer you bring around the hat you also need to change spokes so one spoke gets used per layer or you’ll run out of balloon (if this happens simply tie in another in its place). You need to create 3 layers going down on the hat before adding another pinch twist to each spoke to again change the direction so that the spokes face outwards for the rim of the hat, and now complete the rim with two last layers this time making the out spokes slightly bigger and finishing with a pinch twist at the end of each spoke to complete the hat. |
